The Canadian Open, recognised as the National Bank Open for sponsorship reasons, is the second-oldest active tennis tournament in the world.
Taking place at the end of August, the tournament is split across two cities: Montreal and Toronto.
The men's ATP Masters 1000 event takes place in Montreal, while the women's WTA 1000 draw compete in Toronto.
The current singles champions as of 2025 are Victoria Mboko and Ben Shelton.
As a Masters 1000 event, the Canadian Open boasts a lucrative prize fund for competitors.
Following the expansion of the draw from 56 to 96 players, the total prize money for the ATP in 2025 was $9,193,540, a 35.29% increase compared to the previous year.
For the 2026 edition, the ATP Masters 1000 event has announced a prize money total of $9,415,725.
WTA prize money was projected to rise from roughly 32% of the ATP prize money to nearly 60% by 2025, and to 78% in 2026. Equal prize money is planned for 2027.
The total WTA prize pot in 2026 stands at $7,433,076, which is a $2.3m increase on the previous year. The winner of the women's draw will receive over $1m for the first time.
