Teenage star Stan Moody remains in the mix after dispatching of four-time Crucible king Higgins in the last 16, whilst Stoke-on-Trent's Liam Highfield has been in dazzling form, producing some splendid snooker to see off the likes of Stephen Maguire and Kyren Wilson.
Former world finalist Jak Jones has flexed his muscle in reaching the latter stages of the competition, and he meets Irish man Aaron Hill for a spot in the semi-finals.
The action resumes on Thursday afternoon, with the winner of this year's British Open being crowned on Sunday.
