First established in 1980, and held as a ranking event since 1985, snooker's British Open returned following a 17-year absence in 2021, where it now boasts a prize fund in excess of £500,000.
Since its inception, almost all of snooker's greats have won the British Open, from Alex Higgins winning the inaugural edition in 1980, to Steve Davis the following year, with Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Ronnie O'Sullivan, John Higgins, Mark Williams and Mark Selby all getting their hands on the Clive Everton Trophy.
