British heavyweight champion set to make Matchroom debut in the US next month

British heavyweight champion David Adeleye is set to end his 15-month boxing hiatus next month when he undertakes his Matchroom debut in the United States.

The hard-hitting Londoner penned a multi-fight agreement to join Eddie Hearn's stable in September, ending his long association with Frank Warren and Queensberry.

Adeleye has also recently undertaken another significant change behind the scenes as he looks to work his way up the blue-riband division ladder, making the decision to link-up with esteemed coach Adam Booth.

Booth has played key roles in helping numerous fighters achieve their world championship goals over the years, including David Haye, George Groves and Andy Lee, with the Surrey-based coach now keen to help propel Adeleye to fresh new heights.

Adeleye hasn't fought since being beaten by the recently crowned IBF ruler Filip Hrgovic last August, but is set to begin his boxing rebuild in new surroundings according to his new trainer.

"David needs activity, promoting, progression and I'm excited with his new relationship with Eddie," Booth told the Ring Magazine this week.

Their personalities are well suited, let's see where we get with him because he absolutely has the potential to get top of the tree.

"We're now, on a daily basis, grinding away working on the things that need improving, getting ready for his return next month in America [on the Diego Pacheco vs Darius Fulghum card].

Whilst the Briton's opponent hasn't yet been confirmed, Booth has revealed that it will be against a fighter who boasts decent domestic heavyweight pedigree.

"It's not one of those fights to necessarily shake off the cobwebs -- a local fighter with a decent record ," he went on to say.

"He is apparently a ticket seller so he certainly won't be coming to lay down if he's selling loads of tickets in his hometown."

The fight will represent the first time Adeleye and Hearn will have worked together after thrashing out terms to join forces a few weeks ago.

Adeleye is understood to have been in high-demand following his Queensberry exit, but says his decision to join the Matchroom stable was an easy one to make.

"Why Matchroom? Why not. Matchroom are one of the biggest promotions in the world and they have created many World Champions before," he said upon joining.

"I will definitely be adding my name to that list – and what an exciting journey we are going to have ahead.

"I’m looking forward to fighting all around the world and mixing it with the biggest names.

"Of course, there were a lot of offers on the table. But, for me, I want to become the Heavyweight Champion of the World. Matchroom is the company that can do that for me."
