Brighton's odds to win the Premier League in the 2026/27 campaign have drastically shortened after defeating rivals Crystal Palace 5-0 on Sunday afternoon.
An eighth placed finish in Fabian Hurzeler's first season with the Seagulls in 2024/25 was received relatively positively, but a run of just one win in 13 Premier League contests last campaign put the German in the firing line.
The club opted to stick with the 33-year-old and were eventually rewarded for the decision when qualifying for the Conference League on the final day, but few anticipated them to enjoy the start that they have had -- even after a somewhat productive summer transfer window.
After seven top-flight contests, they sit third in the table and just five points behind Enzo Maresca's flawless Manchester City.
Many put Brighton's 4-0 win over Aston Villa on the opening weekend down to the disarray at the West Midlands outfit, but Hurzeler's side have since made emphatic victories a regular occurrence.
A 4-3 defeat away at Chelsea followed in the top-flight on 30th August, and, nearly two months on, that remains their most recent loss.
They were clinical in a 5-0 win against newly promoted Coventry City, and a subsequent 3-0 win over reigning Premier League champions Arsenal marked their best performance of the 2026/27 term.
Mikel Arteta cited Brighton's intensity following the Gunner's defeat at the Amex, and it's an intensity that they certainly haven't let fade since returning from the international break.
They defeated Sunderland 2-0 at the Stadium of Light in gameweek 6 -- despite Pascal Struijk's dismissal in the 57th minute -- and recorded a historic 5-0 victory over rivals Crystal Palace last time out.
It marked their biggest win over the Eagles in 70 years, and, remarkably, the five goals scored at the Amex means that only three sides in Premier League history have found the net on more occasions in their first seven games of a season than Brighton’s 23.
The Seagulls are now priced at 16/1 to win the Premier League, which is shorter than 20/1 Liverpool and significantly shorter than the 150/1 price that Brighton started the season at.
