Hughie Fury exclusive: British heavyweight eyes opportunity to fight top 10 opponent

Hughie Fury has picked out a host of big names he wants to face in the near future which can put him in amongst a thriving world heavyweight scene.

Having recently signed a promotional deal with GBM Sports, the 30-year-old heavyweight will return to the ring on a York Hall card on 4th April with a bright future in store.

Last year Fury, 29-3 (16 KOs), ended a three-year absence from the ring because of health issues to kick off a three-fight winning run which not only shook off the ring rust but also gave momentum back to a career which had been in the wilderness.

Seven years after his first and only world title shot, a heavily disputed loss to former WBO champion Joseph Parker, the time has come for Hughie to make up for lost time and the 6ft 6ins heavyweight knows exactly how he would like that to happen.

“We’re looking for someone in the [world] top 10,” Fury told bet365.

“We want anyone, I’ll take all these fights. The [Filip] Hrgovic and [Zhilei] Zhang’s of the world, all these types of fights I want to be involved in. I’d even welcome the [Anthony] Joshua fight. I think that fight can be made as well.”

Having suffered from long Covid and a skin condition which affected his immune system, Fury has had to watch while the world heavyweight scene exploded into life thanks to Turki Alalshikh.

His Excellency's negotiating skills have not only brought rival promoters together but also created the biggest fights to the benefit of everyone.

“He's made all these fights and it's very impressive,” Fury said.

“Hopefully, now I can have my opportunity and get these big fights, because for some reason I've been avoided for quite a while now.”

Fury, cousin to former heavyweight king Tyson, is not fazed by who he fights as long as he is involved at the top level of the sport.

“They've all caught my eye, in this heavyweight division,” Fury said.

“I want to fight them all. Daniel Dubois, Joseph Parker and the rest. These are the fights I want to be involved in.

“I believe these opportunities are going to open up for me and I believe they could take me anywhere."’
