To hold one boxing title in your career is an achievement in itself, but to hold multiple belts in different divisions cements your name in the history of the sport.
We take a look at the five fighters with the most division titles in boxing history.
8 Division Titles
Manny Pacquiao remains the only boxer in history to win a title in eight different divisions.
The boxing legend started his boxing career in the flyweight division, defeating Chatchai Sasakul on 4th December 1998 to claim the WBC flyweight belt.
He would go on to make his way through seven more divisions, including memorable wins against Juan Manuel Marquez for the WBC super featherweight title and Ricky Hatton for The Ring light welterweight belt.
Pacquiao's decorated spell in the sport came to an end when he announced his retirement on 29th September 2021 via social media.
6 Division Titles
Oscar De La Hoya held the record for the most titles in the different weight classes, with six, before Pacquiao bettered that in 2009.
1994 was a special year for De La Hoya, savagely defeating Jimmi Bredahl to win the super featherweight title, before going on to win the lightweight title with victory over Jorge Paez.
He wasn't going to stop there, however, as he went on to win the light welterweight title, the welterweight title, the light-middleweight and middleweight championship belt.
De La Hoya remains one of the sports' icons, and is labelled the "Golden Boy of Boxing".
5 Division Titles
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is rightfully considered one of the best to ever enter the ring, boasting an incredible 50-0 record, winning by knockout on 27 occasions.
His first ever title came in 1998, where he defeated Genaro Hernandez in the eighth round to win the super featherweight title. Four years later, he would make the step up to the higher divisions, expertly defeating Jose Luis Castillo to earn the lightweight belt.
He would go on to add the junior welterweight, welterweight title and super welterweight titles to his name, establishing himself as one of the pound-for-pound greats.
5 Division Titles
Like Mayweather, Sugar Ray Leonard won titles at five different weight classes.
He achieved this feat between 1979 and 1988, from the welterweight division through to the light heavyweight division.
Perhaps Leonard's most memorable victory was over Donny Lalonde in 1988. The two fought for the super middleweight and light heavyweight titles and Leonard would come out on top, finishing Lalonde in the 9th round and becoming a five-division champion.
5 Division Titles
Thomas Hearns impressed in a number of divisions, initially winning the welterweight belt in 1980 after defeating Pipino Cuevas through a second round TKO finish.
Two years later, he would overcome Wilfred Benitez to claim the super welterweight title. Taking on the middleweight, super middleweight and light heavyweight divisions sounds a daunting task, but Hearns would come through each challenge with ease.
He would defeat Dennis Andries, Juan Domingo Roldan and James Kinchen to become the champion in each respective division.
