Bolton Wanderers are reportedly keen to strike a deadline day deal to re-sign Celtic striker Johnny Kenny.
Bolton have made a reasonable start to the 2026/27 campaign under the stewardship of Steven Schumacher, taking four points from a possible nine.
They marked their Championship return with a 2-1 victory over Preston North End on the opening weekend, but they've failed to win since, drawing 0-0 against Queens Park Rangers and falling to a 1-0 defeat against Lincoln City.
Wanderers have spent the fewest of the three newly promoted Championship outfits, but they appear keen to add depth to the forward department ahead of the 23:00 deadline on Tuesday 1st September.
As per The Scottish Sun, Bolton are keen to re-sign Kenny on deadline day after failing to reach an agreement with Celtic earlier in the transfer window.
The Irish centre forward -- who joined Celtic from Sligo Rovers for an undisclosed fee in 2022 -- joined Bolton on a six-month loan deal in January 2026, adding to Steven Schumacher's forward options for the second half of the 2026/27 League One campaign.
Kenny added immediate quality at the Toughsheet Community Stadium and enjoyed a fruitful spell in Greater Manchester, scoring six goals and registering three assists in 14 third tier games as Wanderers earned promotion back to the Championship.
Injuries to Kasper Hogh and Callum Osmand does leave the reigning Scottish Premiership champions short in the centre forward department however, and so it's yet to be seen as to whether the club wish to part ways with the 23-year-old so late in the window.
He has been included in all of Martin O'Neill's last three squads -- including both legs of their UEFA Champions League defeat to LASK -- but he has failed to feature in any game.
Bolton are expected to be alert to Kenny's situation in the event that the Hoops do sanction his departure in the final hours of the window.
