Founded in 1895, the Pro League is Belgian football's top division.
Here is everything you need to know about the Belgian Pro League.
The 2024/25 Belgian Pro League season started on 26th July 2024 and will conclude on 29th May 2025.
Unlike most top European leagues, the Belgian Pro League uses a post-season play-off structure to decide its national champion.
The regular season takes place over 30 games. The team who finish top of the league will qualify for the Europa league, with the rest of the top six progressing to the champions' play-offs.
Teams finishing 7th-12th will qualify for the Europe play-offs, and teams finishing 13th-16th will qualify for the relegation play-offs.
The top 12 teams have their points halved from the regular season (and rounded up if required) and play home and away.
In the champions' play-off, the top team qualifies for the UEFA Champions League league phase and the runners-up qualify for the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round.
Teams finishing in the next two spots qualify for the Europa League play-off round and the Europa League second qualifying round respectively, unless the Belgian Cup winner finishes outside the top three. If they do, they'll take the Europa League play-off place, and only the next-highest team reaches the second qualifying round.
The team finishing fifth (or fourth if the Belgian Cup winner hasn't already qualified for Europe) will take on the winners of the Europe play-offs for the final European spot. The game takes place at the home stadium of the team from the champions' play-off and is over one leg.
The relegation play-offs will see the bottom two sides automatically relegated. The team finishing second progresses to the final of the relegation play-offs, which teams finishing 3rd-6th in the Challenger Pro League will contest.
The final takes place over two legs, with the winner earning Pro League status for the following season.
