Beau Greaves beats three world champions to secure historic PDC ranking title

Beau Greaves defeated three world champions on her path to Players Championship 11 glory as she become the first woman to claim a PDC Pro Tour title.

The Doncaster dartist made history in February when she became the first female player to hit a nine-darter on the PDC Pro Tour, and Greaves has etched her name into the record books again with a superb triumph in Milton Keynes.

Commencing her day by conquering Aden Kirk 6-4, she advanced to the third round with another 6-4 win over Thomas Lovely where she met Jeffrey Sparidaans.

Raising her average into the 97s, Greaves dispatched of the Dutchman and got the better of Karel Sedlacek to reach a fourth quarter-final in the Players Championship this year - a hurdle she had yet to clear.

Opposing former world champion Rob Cross, the 22-year-old prevailed in a thrilling deciding leg and carried her momentum into the semi-finals where she delivered an outstanding performance to obliterate the legendary Gary Anderson, averaging 105.56 in a 7-1 victory.

Following Fallon Sherrock's footsteps in becoming only the second woman to reach a final on the professional PDC Circuit, Greaves went one further by overcoming Michael Smith in dramatic fashion.

Bully Boy was waiting on double 10 to win the match, but Beau ‘N’ Arrow stepped up to deliver an incredible 142 checkout to snatch victory and achieve an accomplishment that will transcend the sport.

Ecstattic after her triumph, Greaves said: “I’ve had a great year, but I never thought I’d win one of these.

“I don’t know if I thought about being the first woman to do one. I can’t believe I hit that. I can’t believe I took out that.

“To have won on the Dev Tour, Challenge Tour, PDC Women’s Series, I am so proud of myself because I was struggling so bad at the start of the year.

“I’m beating players that I watched growing up. It is just amazing and I am really proud of myself to win one of these.

“Now I am going to try and kick on and win more of these.

“Besides winning Lakeside this is my greatest achievement. Hopefully I can kick on and do well on the tele as well.”

At the start of the year, Greaves was priced at 5/2 to win a PDC Players Championship event after taking the women's game by storm.

Now a winner of a Players Championship event, she is 28/1 to go back-to-back at Players Championship 12, which takes place in Milton Keynes on Tuesday.
