Vincent Kompany admitted he has full confidence in his Bayern Munich side as they prepare to tackle Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals without the Belgian coach on the sidelines.
Crowned Bundesliga champions at the weekend, Bayern head to the French capital to face Luis Enrique's Parisians at the Parc des Princes in a mouth-watering first leg tie.
The Bavarian giants are targeting their first UEFA Champions League crown since their triumph in the Covid-interrupted 2019/20 season and their 6-4 aggregate victory over perennial victors Real Madrid has instilled belief in the Bayern camp that they can go all the way.
Kompany's men also remain on track for a historic Treble which would etch the Belgian's name into Bayern folklore.
However, his absence from Tuesday's fixture will likely be felt by his Bayern side, with Kompany also barred from entering the team's dressing room before, during and after the match.
Kompany is suspended for the match against Paris Saint-Germain after he received a yellow card from referee Slavko Vincic for dissent following Kylian Mbappé's goal in the 4-3 win over Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena.
The former Burnley coach disputed the referee's decision to allow Real Madrid to play on and score after Bayern defender Josip Stanisic was clattered by Antonio Rudiger in the build-up to the goal.
It was Kompany's third booking of the season in the UEFA Champions League.
As a result of his suspension, Kompany is permitted to travel with the team to the Parc des Princes but once he arrives at the stadium, he is not allowed to go into the dressing room.
Kompany can still fulfil media duties before and after the match, but he must not come into contact with any members of his team prior to kick-off.
During the match, Kompany will be seated with a UEFA official in a private box and is prohibited from communicating with his coaching staff via mobile phone or any other device.
In the absence of Kompany, his assistant Aaron Danks will lead Bayern in the first leg tie against Paris Saint-Germain.
The Englishman had worked various roles with Birmingham City, West Brom and the Football Association before attaining his UEFA Pro Licence in 2019.
Danks subsequently worked alongside Kompany as his assistant coach at Anderlecht before taking on assistant positions at Aston Villa under Dean Smith and Steven Gerrard, and Middlesbrough under Michael Carrick.
The Birmingham-born coach reunited with Kompany in June 2024 at Bayern.
