According to reports in the Netherlands, Aston Villa have joined Crystal Palace and FC Porto in the race for Marseille midfielder Quinten Timber.
The 25-year-old, brother of Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber, only joined Marseille in January, but has been long linked with a move to the Premier League.
A 13-cap Netherlands international, Timber has featured across the midfield throughout his career, as well as at full back, centre back and on both wings, making himself a strong squad option to have in the squad.
Prior to his move to Ligue 1, which saw him feature just 16 times in the second half of last season, Timber made 125 appearances for Feyenoord, registering 38 goals and assists.
Marseille have been reportedly open to his exit throughout the summer window, with a number of clubs credited with an interest in the Ajax academy graduate.
The latest development in his transfer saga comes via Dutch journalist Joost Blaauwhof, who reports that the Netherlands international has strong interest from FC Porto, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.
Blaauwhof reports that Marseille are open to his transfer, with the French side set to help faciliate a move away from the club.
Aston Villa have been in the market for midfielders throughout the summer, having sold Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers, alongside losing Amadou Onana to an ACL injury for the majority of the campaign, though the Villans look set to add Leon Goretzka to the signing of Joao Gomes.
Crystal Palace are also scrambling for reinforcements, despite having made five signings already this summer, with Timber's versatility and experience likely to be of interest to new manager Pierre Sage.
