Arsenal are preparing for the second UEFA Champions League final in the club's history this season.

The Gunners will take on defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in this season's UEFA Champions League final after edging past Spanish side Atletico Madrid in their semi-final tie.

It is 20 years since Arsenal last played in the UEFA Champions League final when they faced Barcelona in Paris.

It was a night that would end in heartbreak for Arsene Wenger's side after a gutsy performance.

Arsenal's chances of winning the competition were dealt a severe blow in the 18th minute when goalkeeper Jens Lehmann became the first player to be sent off in a UEFA Champions League final.

Despite their disadvantage, Arsenal took a surprise lead in the 37th minute courtesy of a header from Sol Campbell.

Wenger's men were excellent defensively in the second-half and they were dreaming of a remarkable victory until Samuel Eto'o equalised for Barcelona in the 76th minute.

Disaster then struck four minutes later as Juliano Belletti scored what turned out to be the winner.

It was a fantastic effort from Arsenal but ultimately one of the greatest teams in the club's history were not able to secure the holy grail of the UEFA Champions League.
