Borussia Dortmund are reportedly considering making an offer for Arsenal winger Ethan Nwaneri with Giannis Konstantelias set for a prolonged period on the sidelines.
Konstantelias sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament during Dortmund's season-opening victory over Hamburg in the Bundesliga at the weekend.
The severe injury to the young Greece international has prompted Dortmund to explore the market for winger options, but they face a race against time as the German transfer window closes at 19:00 BST on Monday 31st August.
According to Sky Germany, Dortmund are weighing up a loan offer for Nwaneri, who featured on the bench during Arsenal's 3-0 victory over Coventry City in the Premier League.
Becoming the youngest player to appear in the Premier League during the 2022/23 season, Nwaneri has made 51 appearances for the senior team, netting 10 goals and registering two assists.
The precocious attacker spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan with Ligue 1 giants Marseille, where he made 11 appearances in all competitions. The presence of Roberto De Zerbi was a huge factor in Arsenal's decision to send Nwaneri on loan to the Stade Velodrome, only for De Zerbi to leave Marseille three weeks after his arrival.
Arsenal are keen not to stunt Nwaneri's development, but they're also aware of leaving themselves short of attacking personnel. It's likely the Gunners will require another attacking addition to sanction his departure, and in light of the Bundesliga transfer window closing on Monday evening, Dortmund find themselves short of time to land Nwaneri.
Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta are only willing to listen to loan offers for the 19-year-old, despite speculation linking the Gunners academy graduate with a permanent move away from the Emirates Stadium.
Discussing Nwaneri's future, Arteta said: "I want him to be at the club, but we have to consider in the medium, long term, what is best for the player as well."
Dortmund are not the only club to express an interest in Nwaneri with Bundesilga rivals RB Leipzig also keen on the winger. Premier League side Fulham have also been mooted as a potential destination for the England Under-21 international.
Sky Sports News are also reporting Dortmund would face difficulty in trying to convince Nwaneri in making the switch to Germany with the player apparently eager to avoid moving abroad.
