Netflix have announced that Anderson Silva will box Tyron Woodley as part of next month's Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua event.
The showdown will take place as a six-round bout in the cruiserweight division on 19th December as part of a stacked undercard that is also set to feature a super-featherweight world title clash between Alycia Baumgardner and Leila Beaudoin.
UFC Hall of Fame inductee Silva had initially been scheduled to box Chris Weidman on the undercard of Paul's slated clash with Gervonta Davis this month before the event was ultimately cancelled due to a civil lawsuit against Davis.
"I believe that change always happens for a reason,” Silva said. “I am focused on doing a good job. Always respecting my opponent and showing total respect to the boxing world.”
“Rising to occasions like this are the moments where legends are born,” Woodley said about facing the Brazilian.
Both fighters claimed UFC titles during their illustrious runs inside the Octagon before making the move into boxing.
Silva and Woodley both were defeated by Paul in their most recent professional boxing outings, with Silva suffering a majority decision loss in October of 2022 and Woodley losing via KO in a rematch between the pair the year prior.
"Anderson Silva vs. Tyron Woodley is an iconic matchup, continuing to elevate Jake vs. Joshua: Judgment Day into one of the most scintillating combat sports events of the decade,” MVP CEO Nakisa Bidarian said.
“This is the gladiatorial sport spectacle of the 21st century. A main event that has engaged the entire world.
"Bringing back two of the MMA GOATS into the spotlight on a global stage, live on Netflix, reflects the magnitude of this card."
