Alvaro Arbeloa 'keen on bringing' Real Madrid trio to Fulham

After weeks of discussions, Fulham have announced the appointment of former Real Madrid boss Alvaro Arbeola on a three-year contract.

The Spaniard's appointment marks the end of Fulham's search for a Marco Silva successor, with the Portuguese manager opting to leave the club upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

Following confirmation of Arbeloa's appointment, the former Liverpool and West Ham defender said: "It is a real honour for me to be embarking on this new stage at Fulham FC, the oldest club in London."

Arbeloa joins the club in the midst of the 2026/27 summer transfer window, and -- according to BBC Sport reporter Nizaar Kinsella -- the 43-year-old is "keen on bringing" Los Blancos trio Franco Mastantuono, Fran Garcia and Gonzalo Garcia to Craven Cottage.

With an embarrassment of riches at Jose Mourinho's disposal in the Spanish capital, Fulham may get the impression that the Real Madrid trio could be attainable this summer.

Argentine prospect Mastantuono -- who plies his trade on the right of attack or in an attacking midfield role -- joined the 15-time UEFA Champions League winners for a reported €45m fee in the summer of 2025 and played 23 La Liga games in his debut season for the club.

While he's shown glimpses of why Los Blancos paid a substantial fee for him, the jury is still out on whether he's ready to play regularly for a club of Real's caliber and so a loan move could be viewed as the best-case scenario ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Fran Garcia endured limited minutes in the 2025/26 term due to Alvaro Carreras' presence in the team, and Marc Cucurella's arrival at the Bernabeu will only lessen the 26-year-old's involvement.

A departure appears inevitable this summer, but it's yet to be seen as to how concrete Fulham's interest is in the Spaniard with Ryan Sessegnon and Antonee Robinson amongst Arbeloa's options in the department.

Gonzalo Garcia scored four goals in a promising Club World Cup tournament, but the 2025/26 season saw him play just 952 minutes across 30 games -- averaging just 31.7 minutes per game.

With Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Endrick, Rodrygo and Arda Guler amongst Real's attacking options, the centre forward is unlikely to get a look in under Mourinho.

This could open the door for Fulham to explore a move, with the club expected to be on the lookout for a striker following Raul Jimenez's departure.
