Bournemouth playmaker Alex Scott is facing a lengthy injury layoff, according to widespread reports.
Journalist David Ornstein detailed on Monday morning that the 23-year-old midfielder will be absent from the England squad for their remaining Nations League fixture against Czechia and was heading back to his club Bournemouth.
Ornstein wrote on X: "Alex Scott out of England squad & returning to Bournemouth through injury. 23yo shone on 1st #ENG start but now sidelined by quadriceps issue; checks ongoing amid fears of 2mnth absence. Blow to midfielder + #AFCB with Kroupi also missing."
The ex-Bristol City man started in midfield for England's 7-0 Nations League demolition of Croatia, producing an extremely impressive display as Thomas Tuchel's men put their opponents to the sword in a behind closed doors fixture in Rijeka.
Scott has also been in excellent form for his club, starting each of Bournemouth's opening five Premier League matches this season, but now faces an extended spell on the sidelines.
Although there has been no official confirmation of the severity of the injury from either Bournemouth or England, widespread reports suggest that Scott could be out of action for six to eight weeks.
TalkSPORT's chief football correspondent Alex Crook has claimed that Scott "felt pain" prior to the game against Croatia, but played through it to make his full international debut.
Should it take eight weeks for the Guernsey-born midfielder to recover, it will mean that he could miss as many as 14 matches for Bournemouth - as well as England games against Croatia and Spain during the November international break.
Of the 14 total matches that Scott could miss, nine of these come in the Premier League and begin with the Cherries' trip to Stamford Bridge at the weekend.
Marco Rose will also be without his star midfielder for the next four Europa League ties, including their blockbuster home match against Milan.
Scott could make a timely return to action, however, with Bournemouth set to take on reigning Premier League champions Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday 12th December; potentially his first league game back from injury.
