Defending AFL champions Brisbane Lions will look to win a third straight Premiership title this weekend as they take on Fremantle Dockers at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Brisbane have won five AFL Grand Finals this century, tied with the Hawthorn Hawks for the most in the modern era; victory on Saturday would elevate them to the most successful team since the competition was rebranded back in 1990.
Fremantle will be hoping to break their duck and secure their first title at the second attempt, after losing in their only previous attempt in 2013.
The Norm Smith Medal is awarded to the player deemed as the star performer in the AFL Grand Final each season, and there are a number of potential candidates taking to the field at the 'G this weekend.
Leading the way in the betting is Brisbane star Will Ashcroft; the 22-year-old was awarded the Norm Smith Medal in both the 2024 and 2025 finals and midfielder could become the first man in AFL history to secure the award in three successive years.
Fellow Aussie Luke Jackson could be another potential recipient on the other side of the field, the 6ft 6' ruck has played a leading role for the minor premiers this campaign and will be vital for the Dockers on Saturday.
Rounding off the top three in the betting is another Brisbane Lions star; Zac Bailey could be one to watch in the market, the 27-year-old forward has spent his entire career with the Lions and, like Ashcroft, has two previous Grand Final wins under his belt.
