June 18th is the date set for the Aberdeen South by-election.
The constituency will be subject to a by-election following the Scottish National Party (SNP) MP Stephen Flynn's election to the Scottish Parliament.
Flynn was forced to give up his seat in Aberdeen South due to a ruling that bars MPs from simultaneously holding both Holyrood and Westminster seats, resigning from his position on 14th May.
We take a look at the latest odds below, where the SNP are odds-on favourites to win the seat...
Just days following the news that Flynn would resign, the SNP announced that Richard Thomson would be put forward as their candidate to retain the seat.
Thomson, a former MP for Gordon, was defeated by Conservative Harriet Cross in 2024 when the new constituency of Gordon and Buchan was formed. Thomson was unsuccessful in his attempt to stand as his party's candidate for Angus North and Mearns during the 2026 Scottish Parliamentary elections.
On 18th May, Reform UK announced that Jo Hart would stand as their candidate.
Hart, a former nurse, finished third in the 2024 UK general election for Aberdeenshire North and Moray East before again coming third when standing for the Aberdeenshire West seat in the recent Scottish Parliamentary elections.

The Aberdeen South vote is set to take place on the same day as the crucial Makerfield by-election that is currently the main talking point of UK politics south of the Scottish border.
Labour candidate Andy Burnham needs to win the seat in order to mount a challenge for the party leadership and, with a price of 4/11, he is favourite to do so.
Burnham looks to be the main opposition to prime minister Kier Starmer and is 1/2 to become the next leader of the Labour party.
