2026 Scottish Grand National runners

21 are set to go to post in the 2026 Scottish Grand National.

The marathon contest has been won by Willie Mullins in each of the last two years but he will only rely on one runner this time around in Road To Home.

The seven-year-old is no stranger to these shores, running at Hexham, Doncaster, Newbury and Cheltenham throughout his career and he arrives in Scotland off the back of a career best effort when finishing runner-up to Ask Brewster in the Kim Muir.

Even if Closutton don't manage to pull off the hat-trick, the race could still head the way of the Irish with Joseph O'Brien sending over a fascinating contender in Kim Roque.

Owned by Scotsman Ronnie Bartlett, he finished a never nearer fourth in the Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival and maybe wasn't seen to best effect on the day. He's always shaped as a stayer and this test could be right up his street.

The Lucinda Russell yard - now in official partnership with Michael Scudamore - won this race in 2021 with Mighty Thunder and run a really nice prospect in King Of Answers this time around.

He was up there in the betting for the Ultima at Cheltenham but connections opted for a run in the National Hunt Chase where he finished a good second to rapid improver Holloway Queen.

Paul Nicholls has a brilliant record in this event and Quebecois - the choice of Harry Cobden - could give him a fourth success, nearly 30 years after his first with Belmont King.
