The 2019 Ballon d'Or saw Lionel Messi scoop a record-breaking sixth award.
Messi bagged 54 goals for club and country during the 2018/19 season, helping himself to a 10th La Liga title and being named FIFA Men's Best Player in September.
He finished ahead of Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk, long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
Messi's sixth title saw him pull clear of Ronaldo for the most Ballon d'Or awards in history. The Portuguese superstar could only manage a third place finish after he made the switch from Real Madrid to Juventus in 2018.
For some, runner-up Van Dijk was somewhat overlooked after a brilliant campaign with Liverpool.
The Netherlands international lifted the UEFA Champions League with the Reds and captained his country to qualification for the European Championships. Mane and Salah, teammates of Van Dijk's at Anfield, also landed top five finishes; rewarded for prolific campaigns in front of goal.
