Our resident boxing expert Rob Tebbutt looks ahead to the return of Ryan Garcia to face Oscar Garcia at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
This is not a guarantee by any means for “King” Ryan, as Duarte has 21 knockouts with a 27-1-1 record.
This is a real, competitive fight – not one of the mismatches for a superstar fighter that we have become accustomed to.
Garcia, who is 23-1 professionally, might want to make a statement here as he has not won a fight since July 2022. In his last fight, he lost to Gervonta Davis via knockout in the seventh round in April 2023.
Duarte won both of his fights in 2023 so far. He’s riding an 11-match winning streak and won all 11 via stoppage.
Given Duarte’s penchant for knockouts, I don’t think that Garcia will take many risks that create opportunities for Duarte.
I think Duarte will give Garcia a big test and that this one will go the distance.
My pick for Ryan Garcia vs Oscar Duarte this weekend is Ryan Garcia to win via decision.
