NFL Week 5 picks and predictions with Chad Millman

The Action Network’s Chief Content Officer Chad Millman gives his picks and analysis for the NFL Week 5 slate, including Same Game Parlay, Money Line parlay, and a Best Bet for the weekend.

The cream of the crop

Four weeks into the NFL season, it hasn’t become any clearer as to who will be crowned champions come February.

In fact, the four betting favorites to win outright heading into the season – the Chiefs, Bills, Eagles, and 49ers - remain the same following Week 4, just in different order.

The undefeated 49ers are +500 favorites to lift the Lombardi Trophy, with the Chiefs (+600), Eagles (+700) and Bills (+700), despite their early-season setbacks, close behind. The odds indicate these four teams are the very best in the NFL – even when considering the Cowboys’ and Dolphins’ explosive starts.

We’ve already seen rookies like C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson, and Jalen Carter show signs of why they were drafted so high this past summer. 

The latest top draft pick to show out? Seahawks cornerback and 2023 No. 5 overall pick Devon Witherspoon.

The Illinois product recorded two sacks, seven tackles, and a pick-six in Seattle’s dominant win over the Giants on Monday Night Football.

Witherspoon has since shot up to second-favorite to win Defensive Rookie of the Year at +250.

The Lions' roar

It’s safe to say the Lions have lived up to expectations in the early goings of this season.

Dan Campbell’s team is littered with talent and toughness on both sides of the ball, and it showed in the Week 1 win against the Chiefs and recent blowouts of the Falcons and Packers.

Chad likes Detroit and its stars to show out again this Sunday when hosting the Carolina Panthers.

Who wins in Week 5?

All three of Chad’s selections on the Money Line come in games with a spread less than two points.

The Saints, coming off a blowout loss to the Bucs at home, are -105 to get their third win of the year this Sunday against the Patriots. 

After coming from 21 points behind to beat the Bears and get off the mark in 2023, the Broncos face another struggling opponent – the Jets – in the evening slate in Week 5. Sean Payton’s men are -125 on the Money Line.

The Colts erased a 23-point deficit but lost in overtime to the Rams in Week 4. Anthony Richardson and company are +100 to beat the Titans at home this weekend.

Chad's Best Bet

The Falcons have scored just 13 points over the last two weeks, as Arthur Smith’s offense looks devoid of any spark outside rookie RB Bijan Robinson.

Their Week 5 opponent, the Texans, have enjoyed back-to-back wins led by their new franchise QB C.J. Stroud, who looks to be the real deal already.

But you can throw out past week’s results when it comes to trying to predict the NFL.

Chad likes Atlanta to find its footing at home against a young Houston team that is still in a rebuilding phase.
