Yankees +1100 to Win World Series Down 3-0

The New York Yankees are priced at +1100 to erase a 3-0 series deficit against the Los Angeles Dodgers and win the World Series.

New York lost Game 3 at home on Monday night, falling behind even further in a series that saw them lose the opening two games in Los Angeles. Dodgers first basemen Freddie Freeman hit his third home run of the series – a two-run shot in the first inning – to give LA an early lead that they did not give up.

Dating back to 2021, Freeman has hit a home run in each of his last five World Series games.

On the other side, Dodgers’ pitchers have outmatched Yankees’ hitters. LA starters Jack Flaherty, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Walker Buehler have combined for 16.2 IP, allowing eight hits and three earned runs with 15 strikeouts.

The Yankees have more strikeouts (31) than hits (19) in the series. Soon-to-be AL MVP Aaron Judge is just 1-for-12 in the World Series, although New York’s troubles at the plate extend beyond their captain.

The Yankees are not done yet, though, and are -150 ML to win Game 4 on Tuesday to extend the series to a Game 5. The Dodgers will use a bullpen game on Tuesday and are +125 ML.

Has a team ever come back from 3-0 in the World Series?

No team in World Series history has come back from a three-game deficit to win the title. Just twice in MLB postseason history has a team forced a Game 7 after falling behind 3-0 - the 2004 Red Sox and the 2020 Houston Astros, both in the ALCS.

The Red Sox ultimately won that series against the Yankees on their way to winning the 2004 World Series, while the Astros lost to the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 7.
