The Women's PGA Championship is the third Major championship of the season and this year it is returning to Sahalee Country Club, Sammamish, Washington.
The first Major of the year was the Chevron Championship, which was won by world number one Nelly Korda in April, then last month Yuka Saso was victorious in the US Women's Open. The Japanese ace has won two LPGA Tour events, and they have both been the US Open in 2021 and 2024.
Korda and Saso will be among the market leaders as the LPGA superstars head for Washington. A field of 156 will be going to post. The PGA of America expect around 5,000 fans to attend each day of the event.
The 2016 Women's PGA Championship was staged at Sahalee - Brooke Henderson edging Lydia Ko in a thrilling battle of teenagers.
The 2024 Women's PGA Championship starts on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
A field of 156 players will compete over the first two rounds on Thursday, June 20 and Friday, June 21. That will be reduced to around half that amount after the cut, with the final two rounds due to take place over the weekend.
The final round takes place on Sunday, June 23.
The 2024 Women's PGA Championship will be staged at Sahalee. The course, designed by Ted Robinson in 1969 and renovated by Rees Jones in 1996, should provide a stiff examination of the world's best women players. It is set to play as a 6,831-yard, par 71.
Kerry Haigh, the chief championships officer of the PGA of America, will be in charge of setting up the course. He is responsible for the set-ups for the US PGA Championship men's event, the Ryder Cup, the Senior PGA Championship and the Women's PGA.
Haigh knows Sahalee well, having set up the 1998 men's PGA Championship there, as well as the 2016 Women's PGA. The final hole of the Women's PGA is set to be a 498-yard, par-five, so there will be much scope for late drama.
The Women's PGA Championship will be shown live on the Golf Channel (first, second, third rounds) and NBC (third and fourth rounds). Streaming for all four rounds will be available on Peacock.
Yuka Saso won $2.4 million - a record prize - for topping the US Open leaderboard last month. There is a $10 million prize fund available for the Women's PGA Championship.
Ruoning Yin won the Women's PGA last year. She closed with a 67 at Baltusrol to triumph by a shot, banking $1.5 million.
American Nelly Korda is the +1100 favorite to win the 2024 Women's PGA Championship.
Atthaya Thitikul (+1400) and Ayaka Furue (+1600) are second- and third-favorites to win at Sahalee.
