The Women's John Wooden Award has been awarded every season since 2003/04, and legendary players including Seimone Augustus, Candace Parker, Maya Moore and Brittney Griner have won it.
With two-time reigning winner Caitlin Clark now in the WNBA, the field has opened up for a new winner in 2024/25.
That said, one of the favorites to win it this season - UConn guard/forward Paige Buckers - already has a Wooden Award to her name, as she won it as a freshman in 2020/21.
Will she win her second career Wooden Award in her fifth College Basketball season, or will we have a first time winner?
Paige Bueckers | +140 |
JuJu Watkins | +160 |
Hannah Hidalgo | +800 |
Aneesah Morrow | +2200 |
Kiki Iriafen | +2500 |
MiLausia Fulwiley | +2500 |
Flau'jae Johnson | +2800 |
Paige Bueckers, the UConn Huskies guard/forward who is entering her fourth College Basketball season after she missed all of 2022/23 with a torn ACL, is the +140 favorite to win her second career Wooden Award.
She won it after her freshman year, during which she averaged 20.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, Big East-leading 5.8 assists, and 2.3 steals while also leading the Big East in three-point percentage at 46.4 percent. Bueckers was voted a first-team All-American for the second time last year, averaging 21.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.4 blocks on 41.6 percent three-point shooting.
Just behind Bueckers at +160 to win the Wooden Award is second-year USC guard JuJu Watkins. She burst onto the scene with 27.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting 40.1 percent from the floor and leading the Trojans to a 29-6 record.
Further back in the odds at +800 is Notre Dame guard Hannah Hidalgo, who plays a similar role on her team to Watkins. Also a second-year guard, Hidalgo averaged 22.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists and a whopping 4.6 steals while shooting 44.6 percent overall and leading her team to a 28-7 record.
Aneesah Morrow is a distant fourth in the odds at +2200. A fourth-year player entering her second year at LSU after transferring from DePaul, Morrow averaged a double-double (16.4 points, 10.0 rebounds) last season and the 6-foot-1 forward should take on more responsibility with former Tigers star Angel Reese now in the WNBA.
Tied for fifth in the odds at +2500 are USC forward Kiki Iriafen and South Carolina guard MiLaysia Fulwiley.
Iriafen transferred from Stanford to form a dynamic duo with Watkins in Los Angeles. Iriafen averaged 19.4 points and 11.0 rebounds last season while shooting 54.6 percent from the field.
Fulwiley led the National Champion Gamecocks in scoring as a freshman last year, coming off the bench to average 11.7 points per game. While South Carolina won the National Championship last season, coach Dawn Staley likes her teams to play well-rounded basketball and share the scoring load, which makes it less likely for any individual to shine enough to win this award.
Further back in the odds, between 28/1 and 50/1, are LSU forward Flau'jae Johnson, UCLA center Lauren Betts, Texas forward Madison Booker, Gonzaga forward Yvonne Ejim, and Kentucky guard Georgia Amoore.
