New York Liberty vs. Indiana Fever: Picks, Predictions and Odds

The defending WNBA champion New York Liberty, at 9-0, are off to their best start in franchise history and they hope to extend its unbeaten start when it travels to Indianapolis to take on the Indiana Fever at 3 pm ET.

The Liberty are one of just nine teams in league history that have started off a season at least 9-0. That included the Minnesota Lynx this year, until a loss Wednesday night at the Seattle Storm cast them from the ranks of the unbeaten.

The ability for New York to extend this run on Saturday may depend heavily on who plays and who does not. Jonequel Jones, New York’s third leading scorer (13.9 ppg) and the second-leading rebounder (10.3 rpg) in the league, is listed as questionable.

She had to be helped off the court late in the first quarter of an 86-78 victory over the Washington Mystics nine days ago. She missed the rest of that contest, as well as New York’s 85-66 victory over the Chicago Sky on Tuesday.

The Liberty will also be without second-year forward Leonie Fiebich (6.7 ppg, 3.8 rpg) who is playing for Germany the next couple of weeks at the 2025 FIBA Women’s EuroBasket tournament.

Jones was dominant the last time the Liberty played the Fever, notching a team-high 26 points and 12 rebounds in a 90-88 victory over Indiana three weeks ago. That matchup was also notable for being the last appearance of Fever second-year standout Caitlin Clark.

The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year had 18 points and 10 assists as the Fever gave the Liberty their toughest test to date. However, Clark suffered a left quad strain in the game that has left her inactive since.

She has missed five games, with Indiana going 2-3 in those contests. That includes a 77-58 loss to the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday. Natasha Howard had 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead Indiana in that game, followed by Aari McDonald with 14 points and Kelsey Mitchell with 11.

Clark is expected back in the lineup on Saturday, as is key reserve guard Sophie Cunningham (6.5 ppg, 3.3 rpg), who has only appeared in four games this season.

Will the Fever push New York to the brink once again? Will Clark be able to go full throttle in her first time in game competition in three weeks? Or, will the Liberty become just the fourth team to start 10-0 in league history?

Read below to see our experts’ picks and predictions for this afternoon’s contest.

New York Liberty vs. Indiana Fever betting picks and predictions

New York Liberty -5.0 (-110)

This line is based on the assumption that Clark is returning for Indiana and Jones will be out for New York. But that may not matter, as the Liberty’s dazzling duo of Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart combined for 39 points in the team’s win over Indiana in May.

Ionescu had 23 points and nailed the game-winning free throws with 2.9 seconds left to help New York overcome a 12-point deficit with less than nine minutes to play. She is second on the team in scoring with 17.9 points per game.

Stewart had 16 points and seven rebounds in the win over the Fever and she has been a consistent post presence as usual. The six-time All-Star and two-time MVP leads New York with 19 points per game, to go along with 5.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks.

Natasha Cloud will be another critical presence today. She is averaging 9.4 points and is among the league leaders in assists (6.2 apg) and steals (1.9 spg).

Indiana put a scare into the Liberty. They are one of only three teams to lose to New York by only single digits, and the only one with a legitimate chance to win at the end of regulation.

And with Jones out, that could open up things inside even more for Aliyah Boston, who had a game-high 27 points and 13 rebounds even with Jones in the lineup.

But Clark also had 10 turnovers in that game. She is averaging 19 points and six rebounds, as well as a league-leading 9.3 assists, so the team flows with her. But our experts expect a little bit of rust on the court against the league’s best.

New York has won 10-of-11 against Indiana, and is 5-2 against the spread in its last seven games. Look for another satisfying matchup and for the Liberty to win by just a little more this time around, covering that five-point spread as favorites.

Under 170.5 points (-110)

The Liberty lead the league in scoring offense, tallying 90.4 points per game Indiana is just below the middle of the pack, at 81.6 per game. And these two teams did combine for 178 points in their first meeting of the season.

But 170.5 points is a steep total to surpass. Both teams have played over that number just twice in nine contests this season.

With Clark just getting back on the court and the Liberty also leading the league in scoring defense (71.4 ppg allowed), look for the teams to total less than 170.5 points this afternoon.

Sabrina Ionescu Over 17.5 (-120)

The three-time All-Star started the season slowly, combining for 24 points in wins over the Las Vegas Aces and Chicago Sky to open the 2025 campaign. Since then, she has gone for 18 or more points in five of the team’s last seven games.

She only shot 40% (8-for-20) last time out against Indiana, but she is coming off her best shooting night of the season, going 9-for-14 (64.3%) to score a team-high 23 points against the Sky. She’s also made four or more 3-pointers in three of her last five games as well.
