The Minnesota Lynx have weathered a recent foot injury to leading scorer Napheesa Collier and, at 16-6, currently hold the top spot in the Western Conference.
The Lynx travel to Seattle on Friday night to take on the 14-8 Storm, who are just a half game out of second place in the west.
Minnesota is trying to complete a regular season sweep between these two contenders, having already won twice at home and also taking a thrilling, two-overtime victory the last time in Seattle.
The Lynx have beaten Seattle three times this season, by an average of nearly 14 points a game, including a nine-point victory in double overtime in May.
Despite the absence of leading scorer Napheesa Collier, Minnesota has won two straight matches, with the likes of Courtney Williams, Dorka Juhasz, and Bridget Carleton picking up the slack.
The Storm are 14-8 against the spread this season, including 8-4 ATS at home, but they are only 6-6 against Western Conference teams overall.
Minnesota is 14-8 against the spread, including 8-3 ATS on the road. The Lynx sport a more impressive 11-3 record against the West and they are also second in the league in point differential, at +8.2 points a game.
Look for Minnesota to at least cover the three-point spread.
Kayla McBride is Minnesota’s second-leading scorer, averaging 15 points a game, which is about what she has averaged over the last five contests.
She has also averaged 20 points in the team’s three wins over Seattle, including 32 in a Commissioner’s Cup victory last month. However, the Lynx have been employing a committee approach in Collier’s absence, and several players are getting the chance to fill the basket.
Look for McBride to come close to provide solid output for the Lynx, but stay under that 15.5-point mark.
Jewell Lloyd is having another strong season for Seattle, leading the team in scoring at 20.2 points a game. She is averaging more than 23 points in her last five contests and scored 25 the last time these two teams met.
Lloyd has led Seattle in scoring in five of the last seven games, and she may need to make that 6-of-8 for Seattle to take a win in Friday night’s matchup.
Look for Lloyd to score over 21.5 points for Seattle.
These two teams have played to the under in three of the last four games this season, and there is a good chance this bet will land again.
Minnesota is second in the league in points allowed at 73.9, with Seattle in fourth at 78.4.
The only time the teams played over 153.5 points this season was the double overtime affair, so look for a tight game.
