Minnesota Lynx vs. New York Liberty Game 2: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The Minnesota Lynx produced a historic comeback to take the lead in the WNBA Finals as they head into Sunday's Game 2 against the New York Liberty.

Down 15 with under five minutes to go, the Minnesota Lynx stormed back to defeat the New York Liberty, 95-93, in overtime of Game 1 of the 2024 WNBA Finals. Courtney Williams had 23 points to lead Minnesota, followed by Kayla McBride with 22, and Napheesa Collier with 21.

Per ESPN, WNBA teams had been 0-183 in the postseason when trailing by 15 or more points with five minutes or less left in regulation.

Jonquel Jones led the Liberty with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Sabrina Ionescu scored 18 points for New York, Breanna Stewart added 18 points and nine rebounds, and Leonie Fiebich contributed 17 points.

Below are our experts' picks and predictions for Sunday's Game 2, which tips off at 3 PM ET.

Minnesota Lynx vs. New York Liberty Game 2 betting picks and predictions

Minnesota Lynx +7.5 (-110)

Until the Liberty can put away the Lynx, this spread will continue to look good for Minnesota. The Lynx improved to 4-1 this season against New York with the win on Thursday night. They've won two of the three games played at Barclays Center as well, so playing on the road in front of 17,000+ fans is no issue at all. And now, the Lynx have proven in the finals that they are not fazed by sizable deficits either.

With the loss, New York dropped to 7-18-1 against the spread at home this season, including 2-8-1 ATS in its last 11 games at Barclays Center. Minnesota is now 17-7 on the road and 5-1 ATS in its last six away contests.

Minnesota has lost by seven or more points just six times this season. Our experts don't expect that number to grow Sunday afternoon. Look for the Lynx to cover the 7.5-point spread in Game Two.

Over 162.5 points (-110)

This total is 3.5 points higher than Game One, a reflection of the 188 points the teams totaled in the series opener. New York has now played to the over in five of its last six games, while the Lynx have played to the over in six of their last eight.

The teams played to the over by the end of regulation of Game One, and the urgency of Game Two will be reflected in the scoreboard. The Liberty will scramble to even the series before going on the road, and Minnesota wants to do everything it can to take a 2-0 series lead heading back home.

Look for the Lynx and Liberty to total more than 162.5 points on Sunday afternoon.

Courtney Williams Over 12.5 points (-115)

The well-traveled Williams – she has played for five franchises in nine years, including two stints with the Connecticut Sun – seems at home in the postseason for Minnesota. She was third on the team in the regular season with an 11.1-point average, and now she's averaging 14.9 points in the playoffs.

Williams has turned up her play a notch in the past two games. She scored 24 points in Minnesota's 88-77 victory in Game Five of the WNBA semifinals over Connecticut. She followed that with a team-high 23 points in the Lynx' series-opening win over the Liberty in the finals.

Williams has scored 16 or more points in four of Minnesota's last five postseason games, and the situation dictates that similar production will be needed from Williams to send the Lynx back home with a 2-0 series lead.

Look for Williams to score more than 12.5 points in Game Two.

Jonquel Jones Over 14.5 points (+100)

Jones, a former WNBA MVP and a five-time All-Star, has been a steady presence in New York's starting lineup. She averaged 14.2 points and nine rebounds per game during the regular season and is posting up similar numbers (15 ppg, 8.9 rpg) in the playoffs.

In the Game One loss, Jones had a team-high 24 points. With Stewart and Ionescu, Jones has been relegated to a tertiary scoring option throughout the season, but the Liberty wouldn't mind if she posted similar numbers Sunday.

Our experts aren't expecting another 24-point outburst, but they are looking for Jones to score more than 14.5 points.
