Indiana Fever vs. Seattle Storm: Picks, Predictions and Odds

The surging Seattle Storm, winners of three straight and six of their last seven, host the Indiana Fever On Monday night at 10 PM ET.

This is the first of three meetings between the teams this season - Seattle took 3-of-4 from Indiana last year.

Seattle looked impressive last week, winning three games in six days. Storm pounded the Los Angeles Sparks, 98-67, on Tuesday, then went to Las Vegas and knocked off the Aces 90-83 on Thursday.

They concluded the successful week with an 89-79 triumph at home over the defending WNBA champion New York Liberty on Sunday.

Veteran Nneka Ogwumike was the catalyst in each of those three victories, leading the team in scoring each contest and averaging nearly 26 points for the week.

She had 26 and seven rebounds on 12-for-17 shooting, while Gabby Williams added 12 points, 10 assists and six rebounds in the win over New York. Skylar Diggins chipped in with 20 points and six assists as the Storm scored 22 points off the Liberty’s season-high 21 turnovers.

The Big Three of Ogwumike (25 points, 12 rebounds), Diggins (24, 6 assists), and Williams (18, 12 rebounds) were productive against the Aces Friday night as well. Williams recorded her first ever double-double, before doing it again two days later.

Caitlin Clark returned from injury with 32 points in the Fever’s 102-88 victory over the Liberty just over a week ago, but she went cold the second half of this past week, shooting a combined 1-for-17 from beyond the arc as the Fever dropped decisions at the Golden State Valkyries (88-77) and Aces (89-81).

Clark had 19 points and 10 assists but shot just 35% (7-for-20) overall, including 1-for-10 from three-point land, in the defeat at Las Vegas on Sunday.

Aliyah Boston led Indiana with 26 points and 10 rebounds and Kelsey Mitchell contributed 20 points in the loss.

This is Indiana’s third straight game on the road, where the Fever are 2-4. Seattle is in the midst of a three-game home stretch, where the Storm are 5-2.

Indiana Fever vs. Seattle Storm betting picks and predictions

Seattle Storm -1 (-105)

The spread reflects how tight this game should be, especially if Clark regains some semblance of her form, which is expected.

However, Ogwumike, Diggins, and Williams are clicking right now and outside the Liberty, each of the WNBA’s Top 7 teams are on a winning streak. Seattle is currently fifth and they are playing as well as anyone.

Diggins leads Seattle with 18.4 points and 6.1 assists and she has been consistent all season. Ogwumike is heating up after a tame first month and a half, at least for the nine-time All-Star and 2016 WNBA MVP.

She is now averaging 17.8 points and a team-high 8.4 rebounds. Williams is up to 14.2 points, 4.9 assists, and a league-high 2.6 steals.

Seattle is averaging 22.6 assists a game as a team, second-best in the league. They move the ball around as well or better even than Clark, whose 8.9 assists per game have her even with the Phoenix Mercury’s Alyssa Thomas for best in the WNBA.

The Storm are 9-4 against the spread overall this season. Indiana is 6-6 ATS, including 2-3 ATS on the road.

This should be a fairly even contest with both teams scoring just north of 83 points a game and allowing 78-79 points per contest.

Give the Storm the edge at home, where they are 4-3 against the spread. Look for them to cover the one-point spread as favorites.

Total under 166 points (-110)

Clark is third in the league with 2.9 made 3-pointers per game, so that 1-for-17 stretch over the last two games could quickly become a distant memory.

As a team, Seattle has played to the over in five straight games, but Indiana has played to the under in 5-of-6 contests.

This is a high total. Look for Seattle and Indiana to come close as Clark gets hot again but ultimately play to the under.
