The Indiana Fever and Seattle Storm are set for a Tuesday night matchup at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.
Coming out of WNBA All-Star weekend, both teams are looking to start the second half of the season on a high note.
The Fever and Storm find themselves in very different places in the WNBA standings.
Indiana owns a record of 17-10, which is good for the No. 5 spot in the league but on the other side, Seattle’s record of 6-23 gives them the worst record in the league.
Tip-off is set for 9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
Along with being in very different places in the standings, the Fever and Storm enter this matchup with different momentum.
On one side, Indiana is in a major groove - the Fever have won three games in a row and five of their last six.
It’s clear they are playing their best basketball of the season so far, and the offense continues to put up monster numbers.
Indiana leads the WNBA by scoring 95.5 points per game, and the big three of Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston are leading the way in emphatic fashion right now.
The Fever have scored 123, 108, and 110 points during their three-game win streak, and have averaged 102.9 points per game over their last six contests.
They are playing with pace, moving the ball well, and knocking down shots at an impressive clip.
With the way they are rolling, Seattle undoubtedly has their hands full.
In contrast, the Storm enter this contest riding a six-game losing streak. Seattle is just 4-10 at home on the season, and things won’t get any easier going up against a red-hot Indiana team.
The Storm rank 12th in the league scoring 81.9 points per game, and their team field goal percentage of 41.4% is second-to-last in the WNBA.
Seattle’s highest-scorer is Dominique Malonga, who is putting up 16.3 points per game while Indiana’s big three of Clark, Mitchell, and Boston are all averaging at least 17 points per game.
Simply put, Seattle may not have the offensive firepower to keep up in this one.
With a spread of 9.5 points, back the Fever on the road.
The Fever and Storm have met twice this season, with one game going over the total and one game staying under.
Indiana won both games, first by a score of 89-78 on 17 May, and then 110-107 on 17 July.
The total for those games were 176.5 and 177.5, but now the total has ballooned up to 184.5 and that might be a stretch.
Indiana is firing on all cylinders right now, but it’s possible the All-Star break has an impact on their rhythm.
Having not played in a week, it will be interesting to see how the Fever perform early on. But even if they are rolling, it would take a great offensive performance from Seattle to take this one over the total – which seems unlikely.
As previously mentioned, Seattle is among the worst offensive teams in the league. The Storm are not a reliable shot-making team, and they turn the ball over 14.7 times per game, which is the second-most in the league.
That style of play could make it tough to reach 185 points in this one and with a total this high, look to the under.
