The WNBA has a two-game slate on Friday night, and the Dallas Wings visit the Las Vegas Aces in the nightcap.
Neither team has impressed this season, as the visitors are 1-10, while the hosts are just 4-4.
Dallas is amid a six-game slide, and Las Vegas has dropped two straight as well, so one of these teams' losing streaks will be snapped by the end of the month.
Let's dive into a few things to watch out for while providing two Dallas Wings vs. Las Vegas Aces picks for tonight's WNBA action.
The Wings sit at the bottom of the Western Conference and are still searching for their first conference victory after dropping the first seven chances.
The losses haven't been pretty either, as the Wings' losing margin is 10.0 points per defeat and they've dropped each of their last three games by 13+, which includes a 14-point defeat to the 4-7 Los Angeles Sparks.
The first overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, Paige Bueckers, is the only bright spot for this Dallas team, as the UConn alumna leads the team in points (17.6), assists (6.3), steals (1.9) and blocks (1.0) per game.
On the flip side, things have been better for the Aces, but it's still been a bumpy start to the season. Entering the season, only the New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx had shorter odds of winning the title, but the Indiana Fever have jumped them, too.
After starting the year 4-2, they've dropped their last two games to the Golden State Valkyries (95-68) and Los Angeles Sparks (97-89).
The main issue for the Aces has been their defense, as they've given up 96.5 points per game in their four losses compared to 71.3 PPG in their four wins.
A'ja Wilson is the star of this squad, as the three-time MVP leads the team in points (20.9), rebounds (9.6), assists (4.0), steals (2.0) and blocks (2.6).
This game feels like a great bounce-back spot for the Aces, and they dominated this matchup last season, winning three of the four meetings by an average of 15.7 PPG.
The addition of Bueckers will help Dallas in the long run, but they'll still need one more star or key contributor to get out of the bottom of the Western Conference.
Las Vegas' four wins this year have come by an average of 12 PPG and I predict more of the same against the Wings.
The second portion of the Wings vs. Aces predictions is for a low-scoring affair. As stated above, the Aces have performed better defensively in their wins this year and they'll need to show some sort of improvement after giving up 95 and 97 points in their last two games.
In addition to improved defense from the Aces, I'm not confident that Dallas will score more than 80 points. The Wings average 81.5 PPG, but they've failed to reach this average in four straight games.
Not only should Dallas struggle to score, but I don't expect Las Vegas to have an offensive onslaught in this one. The Aces scored 89 in their latest game against Los Angeles, but this was their season-high point total, as they've failed to score 80 points in half of their matches.
Additionally, their four wins finished with an average of 154.5 points, and three of those four victories finished with fewer than 170 points.
Overall, I expect a routine win for Las Vegas, which should result in this matchup finishing with Under 170.0 points.
