The Las Vegas Aces close the first half of the regular season at home against the Chicago Sky on Tuesday.
After an uneven 6-6 start, the two-time defending WNBA champion Aces have won four straight and 10 of 11 to move back to the top of the Western Conference.
Chicago has lost two straight and sit at 9-14, good for the last playoff spot as things stand.
The teams have met once this season, back on June 27th when Las Vegas took a 95-83 victory in a game where both teams' big three produced.
A'ja Wilson, the WNBA's leading scorer and second-leading rebounder, had a game-high 31 points for Las Vegas, followed by Jackie Young with 22 points and Kelsey Plum with 21.
Chicago countered with Marina Mabrey's team-high 21 points, followed by Chennedy Carter with 20 points and Angel Reese with 18 points and 11 rebounds. The Sky are heavy underdogs on the road in Tuesday's contest.
The Sky are building for the future as rookies Reese and Kamilla Cardoso quickly become part of the team's core.
Despite having 14 losses, the Sky have remained competitive throughout the season. They have only lost one game by more than 14 points, and that was a 15-point defeat to league-leading New York.
However, Chicago is just 4-10 against the spread in its last 14 games, including 2-4 ATS in its last six on the road. Las Vegas is just 10-13 ATS this season, and 6-6 ATS at home, although the Aces are 5-0 ATS at home in the last five games.
Look for Las Vegas to get the win to close out the regular season, but for the Sky to cover the 13-point spread.
Reese has had a dramatic impact on the Sky in her rookie season, leading the WNBA with 12 rebounds a game.
She is also averaging 13.5 points, good for third on the team and in any other year, she would probably be a runaway for WNBA Rookie of the Year.
Look for Reese to close her strong first half with a complete performance against the Aces. The Sky will need a double-double from Reese to have any chance of beating the Aces, so look for her to top both 13.5 Points and 12.5 Rebounds.
Wilson is well on her way to a third WNBA MVP award in the last five seasons. She is averaging a league-leading 27.2 points, including 28 in a win over the Washington Mystics Sunday night after scoring 33 in a win over Atlanta on Friday.
There is simply no stopping her and Chicago will just have to concede her points while hoping to contain Plum and Young.
Look for Wilson to score Over 27.5 Points for the 16th time this season.
Although this is a high total, the Aces have the league's highest-scoring offense at nearly 89 points a game. Chicago is the second-worst at 78.7 points, but the Sky should score more trying to keep up with Las Vegas' pace.
With this being the final game before a one-month break, look for both teams to push the ball even more than normal and combine for Over 169.5 Points.
