The last time Indiana and Chicago Sky met, two weeks ago, the Fever held on late for a 71-70 victory in the first professional matchup between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark.
The teams go at it again at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Sunday.
Indiana is showing signs of emerging from a rough start to the season. The team has won 3-of-5, including a 91-84 victory over the Atlanta Dream Thursday night.
The Sky have been slipping of late, losing 5-of-6, including an 83-81 defeat last night to the Washington Mystics.
Below are our experts’ picks and predictions for the contest.
Slowly but surely, Indiana is emerging from its early-season funk. The Fever knocked off Atlanta Thursday night as Aliyah Boston (27 points) and Kelsey Mitchell (24 points) both recorded season highs, further proving the team does not need Caitlin Clark to score 30 points a game regularly to win.
This Indiana team is learning how to win and it already knows how to defeat Chicago, having knocked off the Sky two weeks ago.
Indiana is 6-8 against the spread overall, but 3-3 at home. Chicago is 5-7 ATS overall and 3-3 ATS on the road, so this looks like a toss-up on paper, which it is.
Our experts are riding on this mini Indiana wave going on right now. Take the Fever giving the points.
Clark is experiencing her first prolonged professional scoring slump. She has scored 11 points or less in four of Indiana’s last five games.
She was held to seven points while shooting 27% from the field in the win over Atlanta. And she was held to 11 points in the team’s win over Chicago at the beginning of the month.
However, look for Clark to break out. The only other time she totalled less than 20 points in back-to-back games, she exploded for 30 the next time out.
Our experts aren’t saying she is going to go off like that again, but they do expect her to score more than 16.5 points.
Reese and Clark are going to be linked to each other throughout their professional careers thanks to those two epic Iowa-LSU games in college.
Reese was on the losing end of their first matchup, scoring just eight points. Her scoring numbers have increased, although she had just 10 in the loss to the Mystics.
Look for Reese to have a solid all-around game but score less than 14.5 points in this game.
Boston justified her first overall selection by the Fever in the 2023 WNBA Draft by winning last year’s WNBA Rookie of the Year and making the league’s all-star game.
The South Carolina product is now averaging 11.8 points and 7.4 rebounds a game, but the Fever need more out of her in the scoring column to post more wins.
She did just that with 27 points and 13 rebounds against Atlanta.
Our experts believe she will continue that form and score more than 13.5 points tomorrow night.
