How are Wimbledon seeds determined?

Since 2021, the seeding for men's and women's singles at Wimbledon has been determined by world ranking.

Players on the ATP (men) and WTA (women) Tours earn ranking points based on their performances over the previous 52 weeks. Of course, some tournaments, like the majors, are weighted more than others, and performing well in one can boost a player's world ranking quite a bit.

From 2002 to 2019, Wimbledon determined its seedings using a formula that took into account a player's performance on grass courts over the previous two years.
