The Washington Commanders open their 2024 season against the reigning NFC South champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday evening.
It’s a new era in the nation’s capital.
Washington enters 2024 with a new starting quarterback - 2023 Heisman Trophy winner and recent No. 2 overall draft pick Jayden Daniels – and a new head coach – former Atlanta Falcons head coach and Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.
Daniels, the second-favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year at +450, will begin his NFL career against a Tampa Bay team that has reached the playoffs in each of the last four seasons, including a title-winning 2020 season.
Led by Todd Bowles entering his fourth season in charge, the Bucs have veteran presence on both sides of the ball, notably their defense, which allowed the seventh fewest points per game (19.1) of any NFL team last season.
