Florida Gators guard Walter Clayton Jr. enters the second weekend of the men's tournament with the second-shortest odds to win Most Outstanding Player, and he can boost his case on Thursday night against the Maryland Terrapins.
Clayton, who began his college career at Iona, came up big in the second round when he hit a clutch three to put the Gators up six points with a minute left against the two-time reigning National Champion UConn Huskies. Florida won that game by two points.
In his two tournament games this season — the first-round win was by 26 points over Norfolk State — Clayton is averaging 23.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 48.0 percent overall and 52.9 percent from three-point range on 8.5 attempts per game from beyond the arc.
Florida faces a Maryland team that excels on the defensive end while taking care of the ball on offense. The Terps are ninth in defensive rating and allow the 22nd-lowest true shooting percentage at 50.1 percent. They turn the ball over on 12.4 percent of offensive possessions, the 24th-lowest in the country.
Ahead of Florida's clash with No. 4 seed Maryland, let's look at Clayton's player props, lines and odds.
