Victor Wembanyama 2024/25 Odds: MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Stat Leader & More

San Antonio Spurs 7-foot-4 forward/center Victor Wembanyama more than lived up to the huge hype surrounding his rookie season, and he'll look to build on it in 2024/25 with an improved roster around him.

Wemby averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.2 steals and a league-leading 3.6 blocks per game in 71 games played in the 2023/24 season.

He shot 32.5 percent from three and 46.5 percent overall, and he made 79.6 percent of his free throws. The French phenom won the Rookie of the Year Award, made the All-Defensive first team, and finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Wembanyama had five or more blocks in 24 games, and he posted a triple double against the Toronto Raptors on February 12, 2024, that consisted of 27 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks, and he dished out five assists and had two steals that night.

The reigning Rookie of the Year also had 10 games with 30+ points, and seven of those games were in March or later, proving how well he adjusted to the NBA over the course of his first season.

Wembanyama scored his career-high of 40 points in a win over the New York Knicks on March 29, 2024. He shot 13/22 (59.1 percent) from the field and 4/9 (44.4 percent) from beyond the arc.

Ahead of Wembanyama's second season, the Spurs added veteran point guard and surefire Hall of Fame player Chris Paul and an experienced role player on the wing in Harrison Barnes. The team also drafted reigning NCAA champion guard/wing Stephon Castle.

The Spurs are projected to have another losing season with oddsmakers setting their total wins line at 36.5, but their odds of +400 to make the playoffs are much shorter than the teams near the Spurs in last season's standings, as the Portland Trail Blazers and Brooklyn Nets are each +2800 to reach the postseason.

Ahead of a season in which Wembanyama will want to prove himself as one of the NBA's best players, let's get into his individual odds for the 2024/25 NBA campaign.

Regular Season MVP (+2000)

Wemby enters the season with the ninth-shortest odds to win NBA MVP. A player who was selected first-overall has not won the NBA MVP Award since LeBron James last won it in 2012/13.

With his team projected to fall short of the playoffs, any success the Spurs find will likely be because of Wembanyama.

Defensive Player of the Year (-200)

After finishing second in Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2023/24, Wembanyama enters 2024/25 as the favorite to win it. He lost out to Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert, who was the anchor of one of the best defenses in league history.

With an eight-foot wingspan, Wembanyama can alter a shot just by raising his arms. He led the league with 3.6 blocked shots per game as a rookie.

Most Improved Player (+700)

A No. 1 overall pick has never won the Most Improved Player Award, but Wemby enters the season as the favorite. The last time a second-year player won this award was in 2006/07, when Monta Ellis won it.

Given the fact that Wemby's rookie year statistical averages were some of the best of any first-year player ever, voters will likely look to him for this honor if he can lead the Spurs to more wins this time around.

Clutch Player of the Year (+5000)

The 2024/25 season will see the Clutch Player of the Year Award given out for the third time. De'Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings won the first edition two years ago and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors won it last season - both players are guards.

If Wemby hits a few big shots and develops a tendency to take over late in games, he'll have a decent shot at this award. Given his guard-like handles and decent three-point shot, the fact that he is a 7-foot-4 forward/center should not hold him back.

NBA Cup MVP (+9000)

While Wembanyama is among the top 10 players with the shortest odds for Regular Season MVP, he has a much bigger price to win NBA Cup MVP.

That's because oddsmakers do not project the Spurs to go far in this tournament, and that its MVP award will likely go to the star player on a team that makes a deep run.

3+ Triple Doubles in Regular Season (+200)

Wembanyama had two triple doubles in 2023/24. The first came against the Detroit Pistons and consisted of points, rebounds and assists, while the second was against the Toronto Raptors and consisted of points, rebounds and blocks. Can he surpass his rookie year total in his sophomore season?

5+ Triple Doubles in Regular Season (+500)

As mentioned, Wemby had two triple doubles as a rookie. Will he more than double his tally this season?

Regular Season Blocks Per Game Leader (-500)

Wembanyama led the league in blocks per game as a rookie with 3.6 on average. It was the 37th-highest blocks-per-game single season average in NBA history.

Regular Season Points Per Game Leader (+10000)

A second-year player has never won the NBA scoring title. Third-year players have done it, and they include Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson, Kevin Durant and Tracy McGrady. LeBron James didn't win his only scoring title until his fifth season, and Kobe Bryant didn't win the first of his two until his 10th NBA season.

Can Wemby beat these legends and earn his first scoring title in just his second NBA season?

Regular Season Rebounds Per Game Leader (+700)

Wembanyama enters the season with the fifth-shortest odds to lead the NBA in rebounds. He averaged 10.6 as a rookie and is behind Domantas Sabonis, Rudy Gobert, Anthony Davis and Nikola Jokic in the market entering the season.

Regular Season Steals Per Game Leader (+2500)

Wembanyama averaged 1.2 steals per game as a rookie. Last year's steals leader, De'Aaron Fox, averaged 2.0 per game, and that was one season after he averaged 1.1 steals per game. Can the reigning Rookie of the Year make a similar improvement?
