Vegas Golden Knights vs. Edmonton Oilers betting picks and predictions

Vegas is playing its best hockey since winning the Stanley Cup in 2023, remaining unbeaten at home (8-0) but struggling on the road (0-4). Wednesday’s game in Edmonton offers the Golden Knights a chance to secure their first road win, though Rogers Place has historically been challenging for them.

Vegas holds a 4-5-2 record in regular-season road games against the Oilers and has dropped four of its last five visits to Edmonton.

Of course, the Oilers won’t have captain Connor McDavid on Wednesday, so we probably shouldn’t put as much stock into past records.

Edmonton has gone 2-1 since it was announced that McDavid would be out for at least a couple of weeks, but they’ve been outscored 12-10 since he was injured just 38 seconds into the Oct. 28 game versus Columbus.

Since 2022, Edmonton has a 4-6-1 record without McDavid in the lineup. The Oilers have scored 3.66 goals per game with No. 97 in the lineup, but just 2.36 goals per game without him.

Leon Draisaitl has picked things up in McDavid’s absence, scoring three goals and adding three assists in the last three games, but Edmonton might not have the offensive firepower to compete with Vegas on Wednesday.

The Golden Knights have been shooting the lights out, with the second-best shooting percentage in the league, and their fourth-ranked power play has gone 10-for-36.

Edmonton’s goaltending has been hit or miss, too. Like Adin Hill in Vegas, Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner also ranks among the bottom-five in save percentage among goaltenders that have faced at least 250 unblocked shot attempts. Skinner has allowed three goals or more in six of his eight games played. The 25-year-old did perform well versus Calgary in his last start, but he hasn’t been able to string together consecutive wins yet this season.
