The No. 11 VCU Rams — who were March Madness darlings under then-head coach Shaka Smart in 2012 and 2013 — will make an upset bid against the No. 6 BYU Cougars in the first round of the 2025 tournament.
BYU, led by sharpshooter Richie Saunders and talented guard Egor Demin, take and make lots of threes under head coach Kevin Young. They lost to Houston by 20 in the Big 12 Championship semifinals, but they have beaten a strong Iowa State team twice in their last five games.
VCU, meanwhile, won three straight games to win the Atlantic 10 title and clinch an automatic bid to the Big Dance.
VCU vs. BYU will be broadcast on TNT, available via cable TV and live TV streaming apps such as YouTubeTV and SlingTV.
VCU vs. BYU is scheduled to tip off at 4:05 PM ET/2:05 PM MT/1:05 PM PT on Thursday, March 20th from Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.
