Less than a year out from hosting the World Cup, the United States men's national team will hope to gain momentum at this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Mauricio Pochettino's side begins Group D play against a familiar rival in Trinidad and Tobago, who defeated the USMNT in their final World Cup qualification match back in 2017, causing them to miss the 2018 World Cup.

Eight years later, the U.S. men don't need to worry about World Cup qualification, but they do need to improve on what has been a subpar start to 2025. In fact, the Americans haven't won a competitive match since the calendar year began.

USA is joint-favorites, along with Mexico, to win the Gold Cup. The Americans have won seven of 18 editions of the Gold Cup dating back to 1991.

Meanwhile, Trinidad and Tobago are looking to advance beyond the Gold Cup group stage for the first time since 2015.
