The 2025 U.S. Open marks the 125th in history, as American Bryson DeChambeau will look to defend his title at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania.
Oakmont has hosted the U.S. Open nine times, most recently in 2016 when Dustin Johnson lifted his first career major championship trophy.
Let's assess the favorites to win the 2025 edition.
Scottie Scheffler | +450 |
Rory McIlroy | +800 |
Xander Schauffele | +900 |
Jon Rahm | +1000 |
Bryson DeChambeau | +1200 |
Ludvig Aberg | +1200 |
Collin Morikawa | +1400 |
Viktor Hovland | +1400 |
Patrick Cantlay | +2000 |
Brooks Koepka | +2000 |
Unsurprisingly, world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (+450) to win at Oakmont.
Scheffler has been the undisputed best golfer in the world in 2024, but has yet to display his dominance at the U.S. Open. Scottie’s T41 at Pinehurst was his worst finish at a major since missing the cut at the 2022 PGA Championship.
Rory McIlroy (+800) and Xander Schauffele (+900) are each shorter than 10/1, with the Northern Irishman especially desperate to end his major drought at Oakmont. McIlroy came within centimeters of having a real chance to win at Pinehurst in 2024, but saw his four-foot par putt lip out on No. 18, opening the door for eventual champion Bryson DeChambeau.
Jon Rahm (+1000), defending champ DeChambeau (+1200) and Ludvig Aberg (+1200) are next up in the betting.
The prolific young Swede Aberg looks to be on the precipice of his first major title, while Rahm, who missed the 2024 U.S. Open with a foot injury, will aim to re-find the form that helped him win the 2021 edition at Torrey Pines.
DeChambeau can become the seventh man in history to win three U.S. Opens, joining the likes of Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.
Further down the board, Viktor Hovland (+1400) and Patrick Cantlay (+2000) hope to break through and win their first major titles, while Brooks Koepka (+2000) eyes his sixth – and third U.S. Open.
