A field of 23 players began the Unrivaled 1-on-1 Tournament. Originally a 30-player field, seven players - Natasha Cloud, Alyssa Thomas, Tiffany Hayes, Marina Mabrey, Kate Martin, Brittney Sykes, and Kayla McBride - missed out due to injury.
Jewell Loyd and Arike Ogunbowale earned first-round byes thanks to the fan vote that decided the seedings for the tournament. Azura Stevens, Rae Burrell, Courtney Williams, DiJonai Carrington and Satou Sabally all received a bye into the second round with their first-round opponents dropping out.
Games are played to 11 points or 10 minutes in length, whichever comes first. The clock does not stop during the game, and each possession has a seven-second shot clock.
The tournament is a make-it, take-it format, with a player getting the ball back after scoring a basket. The event will use traditional scoring rules, with two-point shots counting for two points and shots from beyond the arc counting for three points.
All rounds leading up to the Finals are single-elimination. The Finals will be a best-of-three series.
