The USC women’s program has undergone a resurgence in recent seasons, and are now positioned for another deep run in March.
After 17 seasons without a NCAA Tournament win, the Trojans reached the Elite 8 last year, where they fell to UConn, 80-73.
The resurgence in southern California can be credited in part to head coach Lindsay Gottlieb, who has led her team to a combined 57-9 record across the last two seasons.
But it’s been JuJu Watkins who has put the program on her shoulders.
The sophomore has enjoyed another sensational season, averaging 24.6 PPG and leading the Trojans to a second-straight 1-seed. Watkins, an undoubted future WNBA superstar, has the ability to carry USC deep in this tournament on her own.
The first order of business will be No. 16 UNC Greensboro out of the Southern Conference. The Spartans are making their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1998.
Looking further down the line, USC has the potential to match up with UConn in the Elite 8, but Watkins and the Trojans first must get past the 16-seed this weekend.
UNC Greensboro vs. USC will be shown on ABC, available via cable TV and live streaming apps such as YouTube TV.
UNC Greensboro vs. USC will tip off at 3 PM ET / 12 PM PT on Saturday, March 22 from the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California, the home arena of the Trojans.
