MLB Tuesday review: Rangers and Yankees among the hottest in baseball

After an entertaining Tuesday night which saw all 30 teams in action, there were two teams that stood out above all the rest.

The Texas Rangers and the New York Yankees were the standout sides and both should be considered the hottest in baseball based on their recent performances.

Texas in red-hot form

Using their offensive firepower, Texas overpowered the Detroit Tigers to win 10-6 and take their overall win-loss record to 35-19, which is their best record in the franchise history at the one-third mark of the season.

The Rangers have opened up a three game lead in the American League West division over the defending World Series Champions, the Houston Astros.

Bruce Bochy's side have won two games in a row, but more importantly, they are 8-2 in their last 10 games. During this stretch, the Rangers are averaging 7.1 runs per game, which helps back up the fact that they are the highest scoring team in the MLB overall, averaging 6.37 runs per game.

Their pitching has been just as solid, with an overall team ERA of 3.69, the third best in the league. Over the last 10 games, the Rangers' have allowed an average of 3.1 runs per game, which is better than their season average of 3.62 runs per game.

With both their pitching and hitting starting to click at a high level, this is certainly a team to watch out for as the season progresses.

Texas are +1300 to win the World Series, +700 to finish top of the American League, +230 to win the AL West and -210 to make the playoffs.

Yankees just as hot

As mentioned above, the New York Yankees should also be considered one of the hottest teams in the league.

They won their game against the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night to make it four wins in a row. During their winning streak, the Yankees' offense has produced 8.25 runs per game, while they have allowed just 3.75 runs per game.

Even with the win on Tuesday, the Yankees are still in third place in the American League East. With a record of 34-23, New York sit five games behind division leaders, the Tampa Bay Rays

Granted, the American League East is the hardest division in baseball right now seeing that all five teams are over .500, but with the Yankees' recent winning streak, they are certainly not going away anytime soon.

On top of their winning run, the Yankees are 7-3 in their last 10 games, led by their offense that has scored 5.8 runs per game during this stretch. Overall, they rank seventh in the league in terms of runs per game, averaging 4.8.

Overall, their pitching has also been solid, as they have a team ERA of 3.74, which ranks seventh. They are allowing an average of 3.7 earned runs per game, which ranks ninth.

However, during the last 10 games, they have allowed 4.2 runs per game, which shows their pitching is holding steady.

The Yankees are +900 to win the World Series, +500 in the American League market, +550 to win the AL East and -300 to make the playoffs.

Arizona continues to be relevant

A third team that should be recognized for their recent play is the Arizona Diamondbacks. They also have a winning streak active, this one at three games.

Coming off a win on Tuesday night against the Colorado Rockies, the Diamondbacks are now 32-23, trailing the Los Angeles Dodgers by just 1.5 games in the National League West division.

They are, however, the top Wild Card spot in the National League and currently hold a 3.5 game advantage over the chasing pack.

During their current winning streak, the Diamondbacks are averaging 5.33 runs per game, while allowing just 2.66 runs per game.

Overall, they are the sixth best offense in the league, a trend that could continue as the season progresses.

Arizona are available at +4500 to win the World Series, +2200 to land the National League, +900 to win the NL West and +120 to make the playoffs.
