Two NFC teams that are carrying high expectations, but are both fresh off a loss, meet in Green Bay for a crucial Thursday night matchup.
The Carolina Panthers currently lead the NFC South with a 3-3 record, though a 43-13 shellacking put on by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week in Carolina was concerning. The defense that has mostly been a stout unit over the last couple of years gave up 258 yards on the ground while Bryce Young turned the ball over three times.
Young had been playing well, but he couldn't get anything going against the constant pressure by the Bucs' defensive line. Chuba Hubbard leads the team with four touchdowns, and all of Tetairoa McMillan, Jalen Coker, Darren Waller, Tommy Tremble, and Hubbard have caught multiple touchdowns so far.
On the other side, the Packers lost to the Detroit Lions in a controversial game that included several ridiculous penalties. Tied at 17, Jake Bates made a game-winning 22-yard field goal as time expired. Green Bay rookie kicker Trey Smack missed two field goals within 35 yards - a massive determinator in the game.
