TGL format and rules

Each match will consist of 15 holes – nine holes of triples followed by six holes of singles.

Triples play will follow a 3 vs. 3 alternate shot format, and singles will follow match play format. Across the six holes of singles, the three players per team will each play two holes.

Each hole is worth one point, earned by the team who took the fewest shots. A tie is worth no points. The team with the most points wins the match and earns 2 points.

Matches can go to overtime if the teams are tied through 15 holes. A win in overtime is also worth 2 points, and an overtime loss is worth 1 point. A regulation loss is worth 0 points.

The four-highest scoring teams in the standings will advance to the playoffs, starting on March 17, 2025.

Other rules and regulations include:

  • The field of play will cover 97x50 yards, roughly the size of an American football field.

  • Players will tee off and hit from real grass, including fairways, rough, and sand.

  • Players will hit all shots into a 64x53 foot screen, more than 20x the size of a standard golf simulator.

  • For shots fewer than 50 yards to the green, players will hit into the “GreenZone,” an adjustable putting surface that can change depending on the hole.

  • Players have 40 seconds or fewer to hit each shot.

  • Each team has four timeouts per match, two per session.
