The No. 5 Texas Longhorns (12-2) and No. 4 Big 12 Champion Arizona State Sun Devils (11-2) will clash in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals in Atlanta on New Year's Day.
Texas made the Playoff last season but fell to eventual runners-up Washington in the semifinals. The Longhorns beat Clemson 38-24 in the first round to advance to this Peach Bowl quarterfinal matchup.
Arizona State earned a first-round bye as a result of being one of the four best conference championship-winning teams, according to the selection committee.
