2025 French Open: Men's Singles Picks, Predictions and Odds

All eyes will be on defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the men’s singles when the French Open gets underway on Sunday.

The new great rivalry of men’s tennis produced a one-sided contest in Rome when Alcaraz ran out an easy winner in the final of the Italian Open.

But that was Sinner’s first tournament in several months and the Australian Open champion will no doubt be sharper when he bids to win his third Grand Slam singles title in succession.

Alcaraz, who battled back from 2-1 down to beat Alexander Zverev in last year's five-set final, has won 15 of his 16 matches on clay this year and looks primed for another title tilt.

Elsewhere, three-time champion Novak Djokovic will be looking to extend his advantage over Rafael Nadal in the all-time list of Grand Slam winners.

The Serbian star was forced to withdraw from his quarterfinal clash last year because of a knee injury, but returned to win Olympic Gold in Paris later last summer - meaning he has not lost any of his last 18 singles matches in the French capital.

2025 French Open Men's Singles betting picks and predictions

Carlos Alcaraz to win outright (+120)

The defending champion’s explosive clay-court game and recent Italian Open win make him the man to beat yet again.

The Spaniard’s blend of power, touch, and athleticism is tailor-made for the red clay, and his confidence is sky-high after a successful spring.

His 7-6 6-1 victory over his Italian rival in Rome was his fourth straight win against Sinner and second straight victory on clay.

That bodes well should they meet in the French Open final, although Alcaraz will need to overcome some stiff tests on the way.

Casper Ruud and Tommy Paul are likely to offer more resistance than an out-of-form Stefanos Tsitsipas in his quarter, but he has an 8-3 combined head-to-head lead over the top-10 duo.

Holger Rune - the only player to get the better of Alcaraz on clay this year - is a potential tricky semi-final opponent.

However, Alcaraz recorded a straight-sets win over the Dane at Wimbledon two years ago in their only previous Grand Slam meeting and his greater experience at the business end of these events should put him in good stead.

Jack Draper to win outright (+2500)

British star Jack Draper has improved greatly on the slower surfaces this year and could be a danger to Sinner in the top half of the draw.

Draper has crashed out in the first round in his last two French Open campaigns, retiring injured against Tomas Martin Etcheverry in 2023 before losing a five-set battle against Dutch qualifier Jesper de Jong last year.

However, he fought his way through to the final in Madrid, beating Paul and Italian clay-courter Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets along the way.

The nature of his recent defeat to Alcaraz should also give Draper some encouragement as the World No. 5 won 40 percent of his return points and created eight break-point chances against the Spaniard.

Draper’s draw is not too bad either, with a couple of winnable openers before things begin to get tough around the third round.

Unseeded Brazilian talent Joao Fonseca lurks in the Briton’s quarter and he will need to improve his 1-4 head-to-head record against Alex de Minaur should they meet in the last 16.

But Draper’s impressive rise through the tennis ranks in the last year makes him someone who the top players will now fear.

Andrey Rublev to win outright (+8000)

Andrey Rublev has lost 10 Grand Slam quarterfinals, including two in Paris, but a change he made this spring could help him finally overcome that hurdle.

He brought Marat Safin into his coaching set-up and has been tapping into the experiences of his fellow Russian in dealing with the pressures of tennis both on and off the court.

The 27-year-old lost four of his first seven clay-court matches this spring, but is showing better form in Hamburg this week after three wins over lower-ranked players.

Rublev has a solid pedigree on clay too, with ATP 1000 tournament victories at Monte Carlo in 2023 and Madrid last year.

And he will fancy his chances of catching Sinner cold if they meet in the fourth round after beating the Italian in Canada last year.
