Tasha Jonas sets her sights on becoming the undisputed world super-welterweight champion after producing a sublime performance against Patricia Berghult at the M and S Bank Arena.
Natasha Jonas has set her sights on super-welterweight domination after adding the WBC strap to her WBO title in her home city of Liverpool on Saturday night.
Jonas produced arguably the performance of her career as she dismantled Patricia Berghult to land a comprehensive points victory at the M and S Bank Arena.
‘Miss Team GB’ outclassed her opponent in every department as she became BOXXER’s first ever unified world champion just six months after establishing herself as the boxing banner’s maiden world title holder.
Speaking following her impressive victory she immediately revealed her ambitions of unifying the 154lb division, setting up the possibility of an all-British affair with WBA queen Hannah Rankin.
“Baby Mela we have got another one – we have done it again,” she told the crowd whilst paying tribute to her young daughter after her triumph.
“I am going to enjoy this, but there are two other belts to go out and get next!
“Then there is always the opportunity to become a two or even three weight world champion down the line too.”
Jonas also reserved special praise for her home city supporters who once again, turned out in droves, adding: “I am so humbled by all the support and love.
“I always try and do the scousers proud, because this is my city and so many people from here turn up in numbers every single time I fight, and I am so grateful for that.
“Us Scousers always stick together, and I can feel the love and support they have all been giving me.”
